Appeal after series of home raids

ELECTRICAL items, cash and personal belongings worth thousands of pounds were stolen from homes in two villages during a one-morning spate of break-ins.

Three homes in Broughton Astley and another in Dunton Bassett were raided during a three-hour spree between 9am and midday on Monday, March 5.

The raids in Broughton Astley happened in Station Road, Trent Road and Pickering Road.

A host of items, including lap top computers, iPods, Playstation consoles, jewellery, a digital camera and televisions were taken during the break-ins.

Sgt Peter Jelbert, head of policing in the Lutterworth and Broughton Astley area, said: “The break-ins happened during quite a short time and were all in the same area.

“It is very likely that the thieves would have been using a vehicle, possibly a van, to get around.

“Someone may have noticed a van or car parked in an unusual spot, especially as it was early in the day at a time when most people would have been at work.

“People may also have been offered electrical items for sale at low prices which they suspect have been stolen.”

Sgt Jelbert said officers had already carried out house-to-house enquiries in the area.

He added: “We will also be increasing police patrols in the area.

“We have not had any more reports of burglaries since those four, so it is likely that it was an individual or group who has targeted the area for just one day.”

Anyone with information is asked to phone police on 101.

Alternatively, phone Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
