Harborough’s Fairtrade group sold more than 60 bags of rice from a stall outside the town’s Sainsbury’s store on Saturday as part of a fundraising challenge.
The group are hoping to sell 90 bags over the coming weeks as part of the 90kg Rice Challenge.
It is so-called because that is how much rice a farmer in Malawi would have to sell to send one of his children to school for a year. The group thanked Sainsbury’s and everyone who bought a bag. Another stall will be held at the Market Hall on Tuesday.
