A Harborough woman is taking on the London Marathon this year with the aim of raising £2,000 for charity.
Claire Groenewald is taking part in the marathon on April 13 for the Alzheimer’s Society.
The 34-year-old, of Middlebrook Green, said: “I am currently busy training and trying to raise funds for a cause that I feel passionately about.
“I am running for personal reasons as my grandmother suffers from Alzheimer’s, so not only is the marathon a huge physical challenge, but also the cause is of great significance to me.”
As well as seeking sponsorship through her Virgin Money website, Claire is also organising a charity fundraising evening at Market Harborough Rugby Club on Saturday, March 22.
Claire said her training is going well so far despite the recent poor weather.
