The charges all relate to truck pull events he organised in 2013, 2014 and 2015, the first two on Medbourne and the third in Market Harborough.

Gardner (54) from Medbourne pleaded not guilty to a charge of abusing his position of trust by failing to account for money donated to charity during the events.

He also pleaded not guilty to using the money to pay for the production of a music single.

And he pleaded not guilty to a charge of failing to donate any money to Jack Rigby, the son of murdered soldier Lee Rigby.

Judge Michael Chambers ordered a trial into the three charges to begin on October 2.
