Young entrepreneurs invited to apply for loan scheme

BUDDING young entrepreneurs in the district are being asked to step forward to become part of a new business programme, StartUp Loans.

StartUp Loans is for young people aged 18-24 who would like to start their own business.

It offers the opportunity to obtain a loan of around £2,500 at an interest rate of 6 per cent for a maximum of five years.

Each applicant must work with a business mentor who, at no cost, will help them with their business plan, loan application and the development of their business.

As part of the initiative, Skills For Enterprise (SfE) will be delivering a series of workshops across Leicestershire for those interested in learning more about Starting up in Business. The Harborough workshop will take place at Harborough Innovation Centre on March 21 from 10am to 3pm.

Harborough District Council leader Mike Rook said: “This is a great scheme to assist young entrepreneurs in our district to hurdle the single most difficult barrier to business startup, namely finance.”
