Wine retailer shortlisted for national award
An INDEPENDENT shop from Harborough has reached the finals of a competition to find the UK’s Independent Wine Retailer of the Year 2012.
Duncan Murray Wines of Adam and Eve Street, Harborough, has been nominated by customers to the final of a competition organised by The International Wine & Spirits Competition (IWSC) to reward those independent wine merchants that provide great service, quality wines and expert knowledge.
Out of more than 200 independent wine merchants, just seven have been shortlisted, and Duncan Murray Wines is the only merchant from the Midlands to make it through to the finals.
Established in 2001, Duncan Murray Wines has built a reputation for providing excellent customer service.
Louise Bolton, from the IWSC, said “Getting onto our shortlist is, in itself, a great achievement!”
Mr Murray, who runs the shop with his wife Megan, said the opportunity is “hugely exciting” adding that “it’s extra special to know we’re in the final because of our customers’ support”. The winner will be announced on Wednesday, November 14, at the City of London’s Guildhall, but Mr Murray says he already feels like a winner making it as far as the finals.
