A BUSINESS which has its headquarters in Fleckney has opened a café and gym there in the company of special guests from Leicester Tigers rugby club.

Tigers director of rugby Richard Cockerill cut the ribbon for the opening of Coba International’s new staff café and gym at its headquarters in Fleckney on August 17.

He was accompanied by Tigers players Manu Tuilagi and Ben Youngs, who assisted with the opening and also helped present long service awards to employees of the company.

The event combined the presentation of more than 30 long service awards in recognition of individual employees’ contribution to Coba’s manufacturing and distribution businesses.

The group now includes Coba Plastics, Coba Europe and Copely Developments in the UK, as well as other overseas operations based in Germany, Slovakia and South Africa.

The new café and gym is exclusively for the use of its employees and the new facilities follow major conversion work to the Fleckney building by Midlands-based Shaylor Construction.

An additional two floors have been created to accommodate the café, gym and additional office space. The project was completed in July.

Mark Cooke, Coba International’s chief executive, said: “One of Coba’s key strengths is attributed to our skilled and dedicated people. That is why we have made the decision to re-invest in one of our greatest assets - our personalities.

“These facilities will help to promote a culture of fitness, health and well-being, while also providing an area to relax with colleagues that they may not otherwise meet during their average working day.

“Some would not ordinarily go to, or have access to a
gym, but now have a great opportunity to use this fully-equipped facility out of working hours.”

The gym is fully kitted out with Technogym equipment and is now being used by staff.
