Taking a crafty look around centre of creativity
Leicestershire Craft Centre
Launched by Leicestershire Craft Centre, Katharine Wright and Andrea Greenaway have been organising exciting courses for people of all ages around the county to get involved in. Also organising an art exhibition to go on display at the LCB Depot.
Walking into the craft centre, your eyes are automatically drawn to the walls and cabinets filled with members work such as hand crafted toys, valentines cards, jewellery, sewing materials and much more.
The centre is cosy and inviting with equipment all around the room offering people to work with enough space and with a good range of material and resources to choose from, including a cabinet full of every bead a person could need while making something.
Just a few of the courses available are painting and drawing courses, paper craft courses, knitting and crochet courses, felting and needlecraft courses and many more.
Katharine has been crafting since she was seven-years-old and has been crafting all through her childhood, making dresses for her high school dances and knitting jumpers for her friends while she was at university.

Andrea Greenaway is a mixed media artist who previously studied Art and Design at Croydon College Fairfield.
Founder of the workshop, Katharine Wright created the workshop after rediscovering her love of crafting and creating from taking a break in her career to have her three children.
Running for six months now with over ten different courses to choose from, the project offers skills of all kinds such as giving children as young as six an opportunity to make party skirts, aprons, bags, cushions, book covers and your own soft toys to take home with them after the two hours sessions.
Anna Wright, one of the children attending the workshops said she has made two aprons on her own while doing the project, as well as saying she has made many new friends on the course.

Some of the courses available range from a two hour session to a ten week course.
On the craft centre website, there is also an opportunity to purchase items made by the craft centre as well as information on bookings of special occasions such as parties, baby showers and even hen nights.
To get involved with the courses, simply pick up a form or apply for a course online, where you’ll find all tutors contact information and pricing ranges.
As well as running workshops, the craft centre is also organising a art venture, where you can design and submit your own fish that will go on display at the LCB depot in Leicester City Centre in May 2013.
Anyone of any age and ability can join and get involved. To do so go to www.leicestershirecraftcentre.co.uk and download a fish template.
