Site marketed for hotel development

A DEVELOPMENT site with planning permission for a hotel and spa is on the market.

Agents Christie and Co is marketing the site at Kilworth Springs Golf Club on behalf of Zolfo Cooper LLP for £300,000.

The five-hectare site, at the corner of Kilworth Road and Dag lane, has permission for a hotel of up to 125 bedrooms plus a spa and management training centre.

Ten years ago the site was earmarked for a £23m indoor diving centre.

The exciting plans were to include a simulated rainforest under a large dome, as well as 80ft and a 30ft pools.

But a planning application was never submitted and the proposal sunk without trace.

Leicestershire-based Oryx Ltd gained planning permission for the hotel and spa complex in 2003.A number of minor revisions have been made to the plans in the intervening years but no progress has been made at the site.
