A PUB is looking shipshape after volunteers turned up to help paint the building that will be at the forefront of the Diamond Jubilee celebrations in Kibworth.

Andrew Southerden, who appealed for volunteers to help redecorate the outside of his pub, had a huge success with the project as a dozen turned up for the bacon baps and a hard day’s work.

Mr Southerden said: “A great thank you to all the volunteers who turned up to help me paint the pub. With all 12 volunteers, the tea urn on and bacon butties at the ready we managed, apart from one side wall, to paint the whole pub in just under four hours.”

The village will be celebrating the Diamond Jubilee with a street party, which is being organised by the Kibworth Improvement Team.

Tables for the party are sold out but there is still time to bid for the top table, which includes a three course meal, wine, and champagne for eight people – for £275. All the proceeds from the bids will go towards this year’s Relay for Life in Kibworth.

Mr Southerden said: “With the Olympics around the corner I’m sure it’s not the only record attempt at the Coach and Horses, so residents of Kibworth, be prepared.”

To enter a bid for a table, phone 01162792247.
