Many Kibworth residents were disappointed when the HSBC bank closed its Kibworth branch in 13 High Street after 50 years.
But despite a failed campaign and petition to keep it open, the building eventually came up for sale and speculation about its future was rife.
The building now houses an already established Kibworth business, Harcourt Estates. The firm started its lettings and property management business in Kibworth in 2001 at 47 High Street and over the years, the business thrived and it outgrew its old base.
Having acquired the HSBC site, it took on the challenge of turning the former bank into new offices. During the early stages of refurbishment, a copy of the Daily Express from 1964 was found between two ceiling joists, no doubt placed there and forgotten about. Gold finger had just been released, starring Sean Connery as James Bond.
After extensive refurbishment, the property is now back in use. The team will offer a warm welcome to new and existing clients and is inviting people to just call in to say hello and to see the changes.
Pat Morgan and Paul and Julie Yates are pictured at the new offices.
