A HAIRDRESSER who has opened a new Harborough salon is promising to bring back the personal touch by providing longer appointments for his customers.

Mark Dunleavy has worked in Harborough for a number of years, but his latest venture – called Dunleavy’s and in Quaker’s Yard off Adam and Eve Street – sees his going it alone.

Mark said: “I’m returning to my real passion of hairdressing after spending some time out of the salon working in different areas of the industry doing everything from training through to sales.”

Mark has studied in Italy with Davines, an Italian brand, to become a national master trainer and one of only handful in the country.

His training skills and sales have led him to work with some of the countries leading brands, training other hairdressers in new techniques, styling and product knowledge.

He added: “I have also worked alongside people like Tim Hartley and Lee Stafford, who are renowned hairdressers, at educational sessions and demonstrated cutting and styling techniques at leading hairdressing shows and Clothes Show live for a number of years.

“I felt it was time to get back to where I am happiest and bring some of my experience, new techniques and inspirations back to Harborough.”

Hairdressing runs in Mark’s family as his dad has run Mr B’s, in St Mary’s Road, for many years.

He added: “What makes Dunleavy’s different to other salons is that you get a longer appointment time.

“That means more one-to-one time with your stylist from start to finish – and I only work on you for your complete appointment time.

“I am wanting to make each client’s time in the salon more personalised and I ensure I give my clients my undivided attention.”

He has also extensively redesigned the unit in Quaker’s Yard with a retro style.

Mark added: “That shows another interest of mine. I’ve tried to give it a 1970s revival look, from wood panelling to geometric wall paper.

“It has been good fun sourcing and finding everything to fit this new look.

“I now can’t wait to meet new clients and get to catch up with my old clients.”
