It’s Wacky Races for two business execs

Market Harborough Building Society Chief Executive Mark Robinson is travelling in a milk float and other quirky vehicles (canoes, mini-motos and a steam roller) to visit the six headquarters of the county's building societies in a 70-mile trip.

A MILK float will be among the unusual forms of transport that will be taking two business executives around the county.

Mark Robinson, chief executive of Market Harborough Building Society, and Chris White, chief executive officer of Hinckley and Rugby Building Society, will be taking on an 80-mile trip to all six of Leicestershire’s building societies in one day using unusual forms of transport.

Mr Robinson said: “So far a steamroller, a tandem, mini motorcycles, canoes, milk float and horse and trap are in the running to be included in the 80-mile journey.

“We will depart from Harborough on the morning of September 21 and visit Melton, Loughborough, Shepshed, Earl Shilton and finish at Hinckley – changing modes of transport all along the way.”

The challenge is part of the Grant Thornton Executive Quest and it aims to raise thousands of pounds for Loros and Prostaid.

Mr Robinson said: “Both Loros and Prostaid play vital roles in Leicestershire, and we would like to help them towards raising the substantial funds they need in order to sustain and enhance the quality of care they provide.

“We would therefore welcome as much help as possible with our quest, to aid these worthy charities.”

Prostaid is a charity that supports people with prostate cancer through offering information and befriending and raising awareness of the cancer.

Loros is a charity whose aim is to enhance the quality of life of patients with cancer, progressive neurological conditions and end stage heart, renal and respiratory failure for whom curative treatment is no longer possible.

Mr Robinson and Mr White have set up a sponsorship page.
