Housebuilder’s offer to help charity
A HARBOROUGH or Lutterworth charity could be in line for a significant boost through a competition to commemorate a housebuilding company’s 40th birthday.
Persimmon Homes, founded in 1972, are giving away a three-bedroom detached house valued at £250,000, with 23 cash prizes of £6,000 for runners-up.
The announcement follows a strong start to the fiscal year for Persimmon, with increased sales and orders.
The company comprises 24 regional businesses throughout Britain, each of which will pick one charity to receive a prize.
Public vote will decide which of the 24 charities wins the house; the winner will be announced in September at a charity lunch to celebrate Persimmon’s 40th birthday.
Paul Hurst, managing director of the North Midlands branch, said that Persimmon’s developments had created “new communities across Leicestershire”, adding that the competition was “our way of giving back to these communities.
“In the first instance, we are asking charities with a turnover of no more than £10 million to tell us in 250 words or less why their charity deserves to win our brand new house.”
Charities and supporters can nominate at www.persimmonhomes.com/40.
