Horse meat check for school meals

Education bosses are analysing schools meals in the Harborough district and wider county in light of the horse meat scandal.

A County Hall spokesman said: “We’ve sought and received specific assurances from suppliers that their products do not contain horse meat and are also carrying out sampling and analysis to ensure this is the case.”

The council provides 22,000 meals at 244 schools across the county every day.
