Footbridge plan for ‘dangerous’ crossing

The crossing at Little Bowden

The crossing at Little Bowden

A rail crossing which has seen a number of near misses in recent years could get a footbridge installed.

Network Rail is looking at the possibility of removing the pedestrian crossing at Glebe Road, in Little Bowden.

The authority has previously said there have been more than 20 incidents at the crossing in recent years, including near misses, objects left on the tracks – including a snowman on one occasion – and reports of objects being thrown at trains.

A Network Rail spokesman said: “We are looking at whether a footbridge is possible at that location but this is in the very early stages at present.”
