A JEWELLERY designer from Harborough has seen her business dealings go global after Kate Middleton wore earrings designed by her while touring the Solomon Islands.

Serretta Morris, who lives in Clipston just outside Harborough, designed the red corral sponge earrings that were worn by the Duchess of Cambridge during her tour of the Solomon Islands on Sunday,

Since then Miss Morris has seen website hits increase by 500 per cent and has had orders from Australia, Brazil, America and Singapore.

The interest generated by the wearing of the earrings by Kate Middleton has meant she is even able to expand her business.

Miss Morris said that Kate ordered the earrings through the website My Flash Trash.

Miss Morris (30), takes inspiration from the catwalk as well as films like The Great Gatsby in designing her jewellery range.

Although she sells pieces in a bridal range that cost £150 she also sells more affordable jewellery. The earrings worn by Kate cost just £36.

Miss Morris said: “I’m just a small independent designer.

“These earrings cost £36. She could have had something for 36 grand but she does often try to use British designers. It is really amazing.”

Her jewellery is stocked in Silver Pot in Harborough and also on My Flash Trash, the website of Amber Atherton from Made In Chelsea.

Miss Morris said the way Kate wears the earrings is just right as they look great with summer dresses with a 1970s vibe to them.
