A university graduate from Harborough has set up a new business giving ceramic workshops.

Katherine Fortnum graduated from De Montfort University in July with a 2:1 in Design Crafts, specialising in ceramics.

While studying she successfully applied for a placement on the Enterprise Inc business venture, which saw her given mentoring and professional support to set up her business.

Katherine, who works from a studio at her home in Knoll Street, Harborough, said: “I’m just starting up teaching workshops alongside producing my own ceramic pieces.

“My studio is open to visitors to come and look at me working and get an insight into what I do.”

Katherine’s work includes her ‘natural series’ of handbuilt stoneware, an example of which is pictured above.

“Through my time at university I found my passion in ceramics and knew I didn’t want to give it up,” said katherine.

“With starting this business I’m realising my dream and can’t wait to starting teaching and passing my knowledge on inspiring others.”

The ceramics workshops are suitable for people aged ten and over and workshops can also be run for schools or groups.
