A couple have moved into a development in Kibworth in time for Christmas thanks to the government backed help to buy scheme.
Claire Walker and Luke Scott signed up to the scheme after Claire visited the Kibworth Meadows development in Kibworth.
The couple had no plans to buy prior to the scheme but they are now living in their new home at the David Wilson Homes development in the village.
Miss Walker (29) said: We’d been renting for years and hadn’t even thought of buying to be honest, but when we were told about Help to Buy we realised how much it would benefit us.”
Mr Scott (27) said: “It was really straightforward because we had so much help from the sales staff at David Wilson Homes - they talked us through the paperwork and explained the benefits of Help to Buy.
“It’s thanks to the Help to Buy scheme that we were able to afford our dream home, as it helped our money go that little bit further.”
The couple already had friends in the village and have now become involved in Kibworth Cricket Club and other community groups.
Miss Walker said: “To actually own something - to know that it’s yours and you can do what you want with it - is quite a nice feeling.
“We’re looking forward to our first Christmas together in our brand new home, and we’d recommend using Help to Buy to anyone looking to buy their own place.”
With the Help to Buy scheme new homebuyers can purchase a David Wilson home up to the value of £600,000, with only a five per cent deposit, a 75 per cent mortgage and a government funded equity loan of 20 per cent.
