Budding photographers urged to enter competition
Davis Optometrists and the Mail have teamed up to launch a photo competition.
A PHOTO competition has been launched to find an image capturing the beauty of the Harborough district as part of a campaign to raise awareness about eye health.
It is being organised by Davis Optometrists, of Harborough, to coincide with National Eye Health Week which runs from Monday until Sunday, September 23.
Davis Optometrists has teamed up with the Harborough Mail for the ‘Celebrate What We See’ contest to promote the importance of eye health and the need for regular sight tests.
To celebrate what we see, the hunt is on to find a photograph which best portrays the splendour of our historic market town or the stunning surrounding countryside.
The contest is now open and runs until October 31.
Kim Durden, a partner optician at Davis Optometrists, which is based in St Mary’s Road, said: “Sight loss is even more feared than cancer, AIDS, stroke, heart disease or diabetes.
“Yet many people are still unaware of the simple steps they can take to help safeguard their sight and maintain healthy eyes.”
To submit your photo, email info@davisopticians.co.uk or post it to Celebrate What You See, Davis Optometrists, 12 St Mary’s Road, Harborough, Leics, LE16 7DU.
Photos will be uploaded to the Davis Optometrists Facebook page in a gallery for everyone to view, comment on and ‘like’ ahead of the judging.
The winner will receive a printed and framed version of their picture, which will be put on display at Davis Optometrists, as well as a £25 eyewear voucher and a bottle of wine. They will also get to see their work published in the Harborough Mail.
