Bra-vo to our businesswomen

The Bring a Bra event is being held on Friday, March 8.

Female entrepreneurs are being invited to a Bring a Bra event at Harborough’s Innovation Centre on Friday, March 8, to mark International Women’s Day.

To celebrate International Women’s Day on a local level this year, Harborough District Council has kindly sponsored the Bring A Bra event at the Innovation Centre at Airfield Farm on the A6.

This learning event is especially for local women entrepreneurs to come together and celebrate both local and international achievements in their business community.

It is being organised by Harborough district entrepreneur Jacqui Tillyard who is working together with Oxfam to hold a get together to raise awareness for women who run businesses in third world countries too. One such social enterprise supported by Oxfam is the Frip Ethique project in Senegal, where Oxfam supply the women there with good-quality bras from the UK to retail on markets in Senegal. Bras from the UK are in hot demand over there.

If you would like to attend the event the cost to get in is a bra, preferably a new one or maybe you have one that was a ‘sale bargain’ that you never wore as it didn’t quite fit, or even an unwanted gift.

If not you could purchase one locally before you come along. There may even be some for sale on the day - but you will need one to get in!

All underwear will then be donated to Oxfam who will send it on to the women in Senegal to benefit their business.

Jacqui has championed support for local women business owners for more than ten years and wants to highlight and raise awareness for this project.

Jacqui said “We have had a fantastic response to this event, not only are women coming along but they are calling me from all around Leicestershire wanting to donate their bras to us.”

It is on Friday, March 8, from 9.30am until 1.30pm.

For further information contact Jacqui Tillyard on either 0116 2796906 or 07747 471145.
