Big housing estate planned for the district

A plan to build 202 homes on a site at Broughton Astley has been received by Harborough District Council.

Jelson Homes wants to build the houses on land east of Broughton Way in the village.

The houses would eventually form part of a bigger development on both sides of Broughton Way.

The complete development of 310 homes would also include a food store, a petrol station, a community leisure centre, a medical centre and employment units.

The appearance and layout of the scheme will be considered by planners.

Broughton Astley is the largest village in the Harborough district, with a population of 9,000.
