All change for businesses in St Mary’s Place

CHANGES are afoot once again in St Mary’s Place where some shops are moving while others are moving on.

The O2 store opposite Sainsbury’s will be moving into the former premises of Walkers book shop next door to Costa.

It will be moving over there in January and the move is necessary to expand the size of the store due to its popularity in the town, the firm said.

There will now be O2 ‘gurus’ at the store who will be ready and willing to help people with mobile phone and IT issues.

The vacant site previously occupied by card shop Paperbox is to be filled by camping and outdoor equipment centre Granite Outdoors. It will be opening today (Thursday).

Bowen Travel Group Travel Agency which is near Timpsons has now closed after the company went into administration on Thursday of last week. A total of 393 workers have lost their jobs across the UK and Deloitte has been appointed as the administrator.

Matt Cowlishaw, of Deloitte, said BTG had been affected by the “depressed leisure sector”.
