A jobs fair to help people access new careers and training is being staged by the county council in the Harborough district next month.
People are being invited to The Wycliffe Rooms in George Street, Lutterworth, from 11am to3pm, on Wednesday, February 5, to meet employers, training providers and agencies such as Job Centre Plus, local authority representatives and further education colleges.
Dozens of jobs will be showcased and the event’s focus will be on the care industry.
It is the latest in a series of events Leicestershire County Council is holding for 8,400 county residents who are unemployed – half of who have been jobless for more than a year.
Cllr Blake Pain, the county council’s cabinet member for economic development and the leader of Harborough Council, said: “Boosting the economy and jobs is the county council’s top priority. That’s why we’ve set aside £3.2m from our reserves to support economic development, including business support grants and events such as this, which aim to help people get back into jobs.”
The event will also feature workshops.
