A daylight thief took items and money from a safe at a Harborough cafe during a busy Saturday afternoon.

The theft happened at Louisa’s Place in St Mary’s Road at about 3.50pm on Saturday, July 20, while the premises were open and busy with customers.

The sneak theft was not discovered until later.

Police would like to interview a young man with dark hair and dark clothing who was revealed by CCTV footage in the cafe.

PC Dean Munsey, who is one of the investigating officers, said: “I would ask members of the public to take a second to view the images.

“If you recognise the man please get in touch, as he might have some valuable information which could help us with our enquiries.”

Mr Karol Turbak, one of the owners of the cafe, said: “The theft was a massive surprise to us of course, and has made us a little bit nervous. It seems like someone has just come in to us from outside and walked straight into our office.

“But we just have to make extra sure that everything is closed up.”

Louisa’s Place is an independent coffee bar and brasserie serving light bites and drinks, day and night.

Anyone with information about the CCTV picture or the theft should contact Pc 0009 Munsey on 101, keying in his number when prompted.
