The air ambulance was called out to a Harborough school yesterday (Tuesday) after a teenage boy was injured on the sports field.
The 14-year-old was airlifted to Leicester Royal Infirmary after he suffered the injury during rugby practice at Robert Smyth Academy yesterday afternoon.
The Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland Air Ambulance landed at the school, off Burnmill Road, at about 1.30pm.
An air ambulance spokesman said the boy suffered a severe fracture to his ankle.
A spokesman from Robert Smyth said it happened during a rugby training session at lunchtime.
