RAIN will not stop the Fernie Hunt from holding its annual Boxing Day meet.

The event, which has a rich tradition, will be held tomorrow (Wednesday) in Great Bowden at 11am.

Even if the heavy rain continues as it has done in the run-up to Christmas, the Fernie and their hounds will still hold the meet on The Green.

If the fields, where the scent trail is usually held, are too sodden, then the hounds could still be taken on an exercise.

The event in 2010 had to be called off due to frozen ground - there seems little prospect of this being a problem in 2012.

Hundreds of people usually gather to welcome the riders while the hounds roam amongst the spectators. There were even some visitors from the USA and Australia in the crowds last year.
