An aspiring young chef took part in a cookery competition in the search for the Rotary Young Chef of the Year.

Lutterworth’s Rebecca Lynne won through to the district round of the contest.

The round took place at Samworth Academy as part of the nationwide search to find the Rotary Club’s chef of the year.

The brief was to make a three-course meal with a Valentine’s theme.

All competitors presented professional-looking tables and mouth-watering menus.

The successful chef on the day was Mary Harper from Coalville Rotary Club and she will now proceed to the next round.

Her presentation was of Greek dishes.

The menu was written in Greek and decorated with an olive design and complimented with a bottle of sweet Greek wine.

Peter Osborn, of Lutterworth Rotary, said: “The event was well-supported by parents, friends and Rotarians, and it was good to see the dedication of all those who participated, including the judges and the organiser, Anne Bamfield of Daventry Danetre Rotary Club, who has organised the event for the last four years.”

Anne has made a request for another person to come forward and take over the administration of the role for next year.

Rebecca’s certificate was presented to her by District Governor Margaret Morley.
