THE FIRST meeting of a prospective new film club for young people is being held tomorrow (Friday).
Youngsters are being urged to step forward and help shape a new film club being set up by Octagon Films, based at Harborough Theatre.

It has been prompted by the petition campaign to bring a cinema back to town launched in August 2007 by town youngsters Lucy Seaward and Mollie Drewry.

Octagon Films’ executive committee wants children to come up with a name and logo for the club, to help choose the programme of movies and co-ordinate a section on the Octagon Films website.

It is hoped the club will meet on Saturday afternoons with films screened in the evenings at the 118-seat Harborough Theatre auditorium. The first meeting will take place at 5pm tomorrow at Harborough Theatre in Church Square. It is targeted towards young people aged between 12 and 17.

About 20 adults are also needed for front-of-house roles and projectionists duties.

If you can help, phone Harborough Council’s arts development officer Sophy Sylvester on 01858 821291.
