TRIBUTES have been paid to Dorothy Moseley, the first elected woman member of Market Harborough Urban District Council, who died aged 92.

Born in Cleethorpes, Lincolnshire, and having been educated at King's College, London, Dorothy, the daughter of Sir Walter Womersley, MP for Gumley between 1924-45, moved to the
Leicestershire area in 1939 after marrying Cyril Moseley of Market Harborough.
Dorothy was heavily involved within the Market Harborough community, having been chairwoman of the Governors of Market Harborough Grammar School, now known as the Robert Smyth School, as well as becoming the president of both the Market Harborough Operatic Society and the Market Harborough Flower Club.
Dorothy was involved in Market Harborough Conservative politics and was elected to the Market Harborough Urban District in 1950, becoming chairwoman in 1956.
Being a long-standing trustee of the Little Bowden Charity and founder of the Little Bowden Welcome Club for old people is a further testament to her local community spirit.
Dorothy held a position on the Board of Visitors of Gartree Prison for 15 years and was a member of the Mental Health Tribunal.
Dorothy was a person of great character and practical generosity, always ready to serve her family, her friends and the community and will be missed dearly.
