PARENTS have been advised to check on potential closures ahead of the return to school on Monday, as the area braces itself for a further spell of wintry weather.
Heavy snowfall is expected across the county again on Monday, coinciding with the return to school after the half-term holidays.

A number of schools could be forced to close if the cold snap is as severe as predicted.

A spokesman for Northamptonshire County Council said parents should check the authority's website first thing on Monday if there is overnight snowfall. Follow this link to http://www2.northamptonshire.gov.uk/schoolclosures/

The Mail will also try to keep you informed via our website.

A Met Office spokesman said: "There has been a lot of cold weather and it's set to remain for the next few days. There is a risk of snow moving through the area throughout the day on Monday.

"We recommend people keep up to date with local forecasts because there is going to be further disruptions with the snow showers. We're expecting a couple of centimetres."
