A DOMESTIC abuse publicity campaign was launched today (Monday) in the Harborough district focusing on the prevention of re-offending and encouraging healthy relationships.
The Domestic Abuse Week campaign is being organised by the Harborough Domestic Abuse Publicity Forum.

It will see members of the forum delivering stickers adorned with the domestic abuse helpline number as well as fortune cookies containing posit
ive statements relating to healthy relationships.

The cookies are being distributed to hairdressing salons and beauticians in Harborough town centre as well as the wider Harborough district.

Campaigners are aiming to make people more aware about the type of behaviour that occurs within a respectful relationship and that they have the right to report and receive support if they experience abuse of any kind.

A spokesman for the forum said: "Domestic abuse can result in death, serious injury and chronic physical and mental health problems for all those affected. It may result in or be linked to depression, anxiety and self-harm, including substance misuse and suicide."

* The Harborough outreach worker is available via Women's Aid on 0116 2426440.
