THE FIRM building the equipment at Welland Park is based in Nottingham, but has its roots in France.
Proludic has carried out a number of recent works for other local authorities in the UK, including equipment at Padstow and Bexley in London, Lancashire, Nottinghamshire, Stoke, Essex and at Marwell Zoo in Hampshire.
Formed in France in 1998 it
launched a UK arm in 2002.
It finds itself part of the project because it won a bidding war for the contract in January during Harborough District Council’s tendering process.
There was no shortage of bids, with 11 other companies submitting proposals following a council-organised seminar at Brocks Hill Country Park in Oadby attended by 20 play equipment and landscape companies.
Proludic’s international arm has finished projects in the United Arab Emirates, Belgium, Spain, Switzerland and Ireland.
Adam Dickerson, Proludic’s area sales manager, who helped design the park, said: “We are very excited about working in Harborough to create a ‘destination park’ – a big project which will hopefully draw people in from the wider community as well as the town.”
As part of drawing up the plans, Proludic and Harborough Council visited Farndon Fields Primary and Harborough C of E Primary in February to get children’s views.
The company is planning to organise some sort of grand opening to herald completion of the work at Welland Park, possibly towards the end of June.
The timescale is dependent on the weather, Mr Dickerson said.
