POWER cuts have hit businesses in the town three times in as many weeks.
On Tuesday, a power outage at 12.45pm affected several businesses in the High Street area including Barclays bank which had to close temporarily, The Three Swans Hotel and Bargain Booze.

Power was restored to the 40 premises affected at just after
2.30pm.
In another cut on Monday, 20 properties in Northampton Road and Scotland Road in Harborough lost their power between 11am and 1pm.
Protheroes in Northampton Road had to stop serving petrol as there was no power to supply the petrol pumps.

Managing director of the company Gil O'Neill said the firm has been affected by several power cuts in recent months. As a result, it is due to apply to electricity bosses for compensation for a loss of earnings
A spokesman for Central Networks said both instances this week were the result of a blown fuse at different sub-stations.

Less than a month ago, another cut during the lunch-hour rush left 50 properties powerless including The Three Swans which had to serve its customers salads and cold dishes as hobs and ovens would not work.

Central Networks said the recent cuts were not necessarily linked.
A spokesman said they would be making further investigations into the recent problems due to the unusually high number which have occurred.
