A PETITION launched to support calls for passport and car tax services to be offered at a Harborough post office has topped 1,000 signatures.
The petition was launched at the beginning of the month to support the Connaught Road branch's application to the Post Office to allow it to provide the car tax renewal and passport check and send service.
Cllr Phil Knowles (Lib Dem), who helped set up the petition, said: "This shows clear and weighty support from the community calling for provision of these important additional services."
The campaign also has the support of Harborough MP Edward Garnier, who said: "I will now do my best to ensure that the DVLA see the good sense in allowing the post office to offer the much-needed service of vehicle tax discs. I am also in touch with the Passport Agency to get them to allow passport applications to be processed at this post office."
