PROMISING young tennis players have earned some silverware for Kibworth Tennis Club.
The Smeeton Road club’s under-8s Mini Tennis Red side recently triumphed in a countywide league championship.

Mini Red matches are played on a badminton-sized court using a soft foam ball.

The youngsters, who were all awarded a plaque for their achievements, played matches at Guthlaxton College in Wigston and were up against sides from Leicester and Oadby.

The club won the same title last year and it also has a Mini Orange and two Mini Green teams playing matches. Junior tennis is in rude health at the Kibworth club with 15 teams playing in leagues for children aged between six and 18.

Coach Paul Bradfield said: “Kibworth has over 400 children attending courses run by the club.”
