A MAN found to have 36 ecstasy tablets on him by police, told them he had a ten-tablet-a-day habit, Harborough magistrates were told last Thursday.
In court was Spencer Harrald (21) of Western Avenue, Harborough, who admitted possessing the drug – otherwise known as MDMA – in the town on July 22 last year.
Nicki Bennett, prosecuting, said police found Harrald in Walcot Road, Harborough, with blood on his hands and nose. They put him in their car and were about to let him go when an officer spotted five tablets on the back seat.
They then saw him try to throw further tablets on the grass verge.
In all Harrald had 36 ecstasy tablets on him.
Harrald told them he bought ecstasy in bulk because he had a ten-a-day habit.
He told the court that he had cut his ecstasy use and was now mixing with a different group of people.
Magistrates gave him a six months community order with a three-month curfew, during which he must be electronically tagged from 8pm to 6am.
He was ordered to pay £70 costs and the drugs are to be destroyed.
