TEAMS of student designers from Lutterworth College were put through their paces by a panel of Dragons Den-style judges.
The competition, organised by George, at Asda, Magna Park, saw three teams pitching ideas for designs of Tickled Pink t-shirts, which are sold at Asda stores to raise money for Breast Cancer Care and Breast Cancer Campaign.

The teams had to come up with their own designs, marketing ideas, cost of materials and even the quantity they would make.

Their ideas were then presented to a panel of four judges who quizzed them on how they had carried out their research and why they had picked their designs.

Genevieve Tofield, from George, said the link-up between the firm and Lutteroworth College had been very successful.

She added: “Two of my colleagues visited the college a number of months ago and told students about the idea for the competition. Nine teams of four people were formed to take part and their ideas and projects were filmed and sent to us.

“We selected three and invited them to George to present their ideas to the dragons.”

The teams were given a guided tour of the George headquarters before making their presentations.

Winning team was Chris Mussen, James Topping, Jeff Woodward and Ross Lockton.

Miss Tofield added: “The groups were all awarded t-shirts and certificates because they were the finalists.

“The winners were also given a £10 Asda voucher each and the opportunity to come back to George at some point on a work experience placement. We were really impressed with the work they had done.” Teacher Damian Belshaw co-ordinated the work at Lutterworth College.
