A CLEANER at a Harborough retirement flats complex is running a half-marathon for charity on Sunday.
Denis Thompson, who works at Marshall Court in Northampton Road, is taking on the challenge in Leicester with all proceeds going to the Rainbows Children’s Hospice’s ‘buy a brick’ appeal.

Mr Thompson, who has worked at the home since 2002, ran thr
ough Harborough in May 2004 flanked by an entourage of pensioners on electric scooters to raise more than £1,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support.

The Loughborough-based hospice provides help and support for terminally-ill children and their families. Its ‘buy a brick’ appeal is to help the first stage of a new £400,000 bedroom extension. To sponsor Mr Thomson, people can send cheques, made payable to Rainbows Children’s Hospice, to Marshall Court, Northampton Road, Harborough, Leics, LE16 9HD.

l Marshall Court is built on the site of Harborough’s former public swimming baths and a resident is searching for old photos of the pool.

Sylvia Sturgess would like information and photos of the site before Marshall Court was built. She is also looking for photos of Mr and Mrs Marshall, who ran the baths.

It is hoped the photos could be put on display at the home.
