AN ACCOUNTANT died after he was hit by a train near Harborough Railway Station.
Robert Dunnicliff (51), of Austins Close, Harborough, was killed on the railtracks about 100 metres from the station, off St Mary's Road in town.
Police officers from the town's station were called to the scene shortly after 11pm on Wednesday last
week and secured the area before handing the investigation to the British Transport Police.
The railway line was closed for about three hours as police investigators worked at the scene.
Neal Holland, head of Harborough police, said the incident was not being treated as suspicious.
Mr Dunnicliff had a wife, Lynn, and a teenage son Richard, and worked from home as an accountant for AIMS Accountants For Business (trading as Oakland Business Services).
The notice of his death placed in this week's Mail by his family describes him as a 'loving son of Pamela and the late Alan and brother of Ginny'.
He was a dedicated member of the business networking group the Harborough Area Homeworking Alliance (HAHA) and the group's founder, Jane Giffard-Tiney, told the Mail this week that he will be sady missed.
"He was unwaveringly loyal to the group, always dependable, a really good human being. I was so upset to hear he had died.
"He was quite quiet but had a very dry wit and was funny. I thought a massive amount of him."
Mr Dunnicliff's funeral service will be held at Harborough's St Dionysius Church on Tuesday july 27at 2.15pm followed by cremation at Kettering.
The family has requested any donations to be sent to Leicester hospice charity Loros.
