A 100-YEAR-OLD woman sang karaoke tunes as she celebrated reaching her century in style.
Ann Newstone was joined by family and staff at Gables residential home in Harborough, where she lives, for a party.

Mrs Newstone sang Que Sera, Sera, songs from My Fair Lady and staff provided some food.

London-born Mrs Newstone was evacuated with her daughter Judith during The Blitz and spent much of the Second World War staying with Harborough couple Maud and Frank Osborne, who lived in the Coventry Road area.

After the war she returned to London, working as manageress of a sweet shop. She moved to live with her sister in Glasgow during the 80s and remained there until 12 years ago when she returned to Harborough.

An Engelbert Humperdinck fan, Mrs Newstone was driven to the star’s home in Great Glen by daughter Judith Marlowe and granddaughters Shellie and Laura Marlowe as part of her celebrations. Despite not seeing the star in person, Mrs Newstone said she enjoyed her birthday and receiving a card from the Queen.

“I had the most wonderful day and having my friends and family there helped make it a day I shall never forget,” she said.
