A MILD Christmas is in store in the Harborough area, according to Little Bowden amateur weather forecaster Joyce Dunkley.
Miss Dunkley’s forecast for the East Midlands over the next six months – based on observations she made during the autumnal equinox on September 22 – is as follows:

October will be a bright and sunny month, but cool with the odd frost, while November will be a changeable month, mainly dry with several beautiful days and a chance of snow showers.

Some gales are likely in December but there will be quite a lot of sun and it will be particularly mild for Christmas.

January will see snow showers and frosts but also some spring-like days, while February will possibly be the wettest and windiest month of the winter.

March will be very windy with some spring-like days.

Miss Dunkley has been making twice-yearly forecasts of Harborough’s weather for 30 years, supplying her predictions to the Mail on and off for 20 of those years.

This time last year she gave her most accurate forecast yet, predicting February’s heavy snowfall with unerring accuracy.
