VIDEO: Circus is in town

Waiting for Video...

A NEW circus which had to pull out of shows in Harborough a month ago due to the heavy rain has come to Welland Park.

The Mr Fips Wonder Circus has arrived in town and will take place every day until Sunday (June 10).

The big top has been erected in Welland Park and family audiences can expect everything from contortionists to old-fashioned slapstick comedy.

Performers from the circus paid a visit to the Mail’s offices on Thursday (June 7) and we captured their visit in the video clip above.

Jan Erik Brenner, also known as Mr Fips the clown, has performed all over the world but said the circus was a new venture.

“It’s a real family show, I describe it as more of a circus-panto,” he said.

“We want the whole family to get involved int he show and have a good time.

“I’ve been lucky enough to perform all over the world and made friends with some really great performers who I’ve invited along to help me on this venture.”

As well as the comic antics of Mr Fips, the show features performances by contortionist Miss Cristina, Carolyn Roberts and her Adalusian horses, slapstick stars The Brenner Clowns, a performance called the Amazing Spiderman and juggler Alexandre Frenea.

The circus had been due in town on May 10 but heavy rain had left Welland Park waterlogged.

The first show was on Wednesday night (June 6) and there are further performances tonight (Thursday, June 7) at 6pm, Friday at 5pm and 7.30pm, Saturday at 2pm and 5pm and Sunday at 2pm.

Tickets cost from £8 for adults and £7 for children and are available from the circus box office or by phoning 07719 877422.
