Parents’ band needs bass player to complete line-up

A ROCK and pop band made up of parents and staff from Harborough’s Robert Smyth Academy is looking for a bass player.

The group was set up after parent Astrid van Wilsem and head of music at the Burnmill Road academy, Helle Peterson, posted an ad in the school newsletter.

It is comprised of four singers, two guitarists, one pianist/alto-saxophonist and a drummer, but needs a bass player to complete the line-up.

Astrid said: “I used to play drums in a pop/rock cover band in the Netherlands but since we moved to the UK in April 2011 I had to give that up, unfortunately. That’s why I decided to ask RSA if they would be interested in a parents’ band.

“We hope to be doing some charity events and perform a few times at RSA or other occasions. Three out of eight members work at RSA, so it’s basically a parent/staff band. It would be nice for the bass player to have a strong connection with RSA.”

The group, which covers songs from the likes of Fleetwood Mac,Daniel Powter and Journey, rehearses on Tuesday evenings. For more information email a.vanwilsem@gmail.com.
