A POPULAR Harborough folk band is to re-unite for a one-off gig this Sunday as part of the second Harborough Folk Festival.

Irish and Scottish folk band the Riff Raff Element split up a little over two years ago after entertaining crowds in Harborough for more than a decade.

They will be making a special appearance as part of the three-day Harborough Folk Festival taking place between tomorrow (Friday) and Sunday.

This year’s event takes place over two evenings at the Copperfield Hotel in Northampton Road on Friday and Saturday, before the all-day main event at Harborough Town Football Club on Sunday.

On Friday evening, The Carp Family and Gary J Armstrong play at the Copperfield (tickets £7) while Saturday evening’s Copperfield entertainment will be provided by Jez Lowe and Phil Riley (tickets £10).

A musical session also takes place at the Cherry Tree in Kettering Road on Saturday between 2 and 6pm which musicians are free to join.

The Sunday event features performances from the Riff Raff Element, the Ann Duggan Band, Pete Morton and the RockOlas, among others.

Tickets for the Sunday event are £15 (£5 children under 14, under 5s free).

A full festival ticket, for all three days, costs £25.

To buy tickets, visit harboroughfolkfestival.webs.com, or phone 01858 431472.

The Help for Heroes charity is to benefit from money raised at the festival.
