MISSISSIPPI-style blues band The Outwoods County Riders are set to appear at Joules Yard in Harborough this Sunday afternoon.

The Leicester-based three piece play their own bluegrass and roots influenced country music.

They have been together for about three years and are no strangers to Joules Yard, having played there on several occasions in recent years.

The lineup includes drummer and fiddler Paul ‘Slim’ Williams, bass player Rich ‘Filthy Rich’ Paling and lead singer/guitarist 2BadJim.

Drummer Paul said: “There are two different sides to the band.

“We have an electric set of Mississippi style music and then we also play an acoustic set, which is most likely the type of music we’ll be playing at Joules, which is more ‘countryfied’.

“Some people call it redneck or hillbilly music, but we’re mainly influenced by bluegrass and roots music from the American south.”

Paul said he and lead singer 2BadJim have known one another for a number of years, but the Outwoods County Riders was formed just a few years ago.

He added: “We’ve played a lot of gigs around the midlands since then and we usually get a good reception at Joules – it’s even better when the weather is nice.”

This Sunday’s gig starts at midday and entry is free.
