HARBOROUGH band The RockOlas are set to raise the roof at the Royalist tomorrow (Friday) as they warm up for a mini-tour of Finland at the beginning of May.

Local lads Jay Luker (double bass), Matt Lewsey (drums), Ian Walden (guitar) and Adam Whitmee AKA Charlie Rogers (vocals), are looking forward to a summer of gigs and festivals starting with their Finland tour where they’ll play in Helsinki, Hyvinkää and Kouvola.

Following the tour, they will be headlining a benefit gig at the Y Theatre (YMCA) Leicester, on Saturday, May 26, where they’ll be joined by the Toreadors Trio all the way from Finland and the well-known Leicester cover band Wellard Willy – the gig has been organised by the band’s manager Maxine Freeman, in memory of her younger sister Lynne who lost her fight against cancer last June, Maxine hopes to raise £1000 for Macmillan Cancer care from the proceeds.

The band have plans for later this year too, they’re hoping to release their first live album in the autumn which will be available via iTunes, and for those of who prefer good old fashioned vinyl, they’re planning to release a limited edition 10-inch EP.

The RockOlas are also promising a special surprise for fans who find and ‘like’ their Facebook page. They have almost reached 1,000 ‘likes’ and if you happen to be the lucky 1000th there may be a surprise in store.
