Bowl’s tour was superb

COLD Ashby Bowls Club and Friends ventured on their annual bowls tour travelling by coach to Devon on Friday, June 1, reaching their destination at King’s Bowls Club in Torquay.

After a few drinks and socialising with the King’s Team, the match started at 2pm. The match was very close with Cold Ashby and Friends 109, King’s 93.

On Saturday, June 2 the coach left the Derwent Hotel and headed to Brixham Bowls Club with both teams in fancy dress to celebrate the Diamond Jubilee. The bowls match was played with Cold Ashby and Friends 101, Brixham 89.

On Sunday, June 3 again they hit the road, this time heading to Den Bowls Club, Teignmouth. An excellent buffet was prepared by the Den Bowls Club, Teignmouth and was very much appreciated. There was Diamond Jubilee celebrations in progress next to the bowling green during the match but the noise had no effect on the bowlers with Cold Ashby and Friends 149, Den Teignmouth 84.

On Monday members left the Derwent Hotel and boarded the coach for the journey to Bath for a visit, then returned to Cold Ashby.

What an excellent weekend; three superb teams in Devon, marvellous friendship, good accommodation at the Derwent Hotel and not forgetting the resident coach driver Dave and his wife Sue.
