Story-telling session for World Book Day
Youngsters from Caterpillar Day Nursery listen to some stories at Waterstones.
Youngsters from a Market Harborough nursery celebrated World Book Day with a visit to a town bookshop.
Children from the Caterpillar Day Nursery were welcomed to Waterstones on The Square in Market Hrborough on Thursday last week.
Lisa Raynes, director at Caterpillar Day Nursery, said: “Our pre-school children were kindly invited by Waterstones in Market Harborough to share World Book Day with them.
“The children were read some stories by staff at Waterstones and were then invited to make either a Gruffalo or an elephant mask.
“They were then given the opportunity to exchange their World Book Day token for a book.”
World Book Day, also known as International Day of the Book, is a yearly event organised by UNESCO to promote reading, publishing and copyright.
In the United Kingdom, the day is recognised on the first Thursday in March.
World Book Day was celebrated for the first time on April 23, 1995.
