Lubstock Festival: Lubenham: Lubstock goes ahead despite the mud and rain Saturday 14th July 2012

THE third incarnation of the non-for-profit festival Lubstock was a resounding success in Lubenham at the weekend, as campers braved the quagmire to enjoy unsigned music and entertainment.

Lubstock, started by a group of friends in 2010, was held at the weekend.

The music comprised of unsigned bands, with headliners for the weekend the Jude, Brothers In Bones and the returning I Dream in Colour and Hitchcock. See a gallery of photos from Lubstock here

Revellers forgot about the Great British weather and kicked back to watch the music. The shelter of the beer tent remained a safe haven from the weather and was equally abuzz.

Kate Cazenove, one of the organisers, said: “I feel we achieved what we tried to achieve and I’d go so far as to say it was the best festival yet.”

There was plenty on offer aside from the music, with children’s yoga and the Panic Circus, whose big top offered juggling, tight-rope walking and trapeze workshops. These were a huge hit with children and adults alike, adding to the family feel of the festival.

This year Lubstock was offering tickets priced at only £30 for those living in the area and children under 16 were given free admission.

Kate said: “We tried our best to support as many local people as possible.”

The local feel of this year’s Lubfest was mirrored in the charities to whom the festival was raising money, with money raised going directly to local charities and the Air Ambulance.

The organisers cite one of their main aims as introducing young people to live music and there was a designated family area for camping.

The festivals Facebook site was awash with posts designating the weekend as a success, with one post typifying the spirit of the weekend.

Clare Fitzpatrick said: “Love Lubstock for going ahead despite the conditions! Excellent event & magic atmosphere - already looking forward to next year.”
